Juniors Jacob Prater, Carlie Heuple, Manny Gonzalez, and Carley Gangle walk the red carpet at Prom on May 31. Prom was hosted at the Town Toyota Center for the second year in a row.

2014 Prom was held on May 31 from 9 to midnight at the Town Toyota Center. This year’s theme was “Red Carpet Rendezvous.”

This theme was decided by the senior class in a vote where they had the option between two themes: “The 1920s” and “Red Carpet Premiere,” and the results were so close the Junior Senate decided to combine both and created a Red Carpet theme with decorations from the 1920s.

Senior Senate officers are: Mariana Covarrubias, Jesse Reyes, John Dye, Abbi Milner and Marit McQuaig. Junior Senate officers are: Josey Meats, Madeline Atwood, Britt Parkhill, Jace Pauly  and Adam Chvilicek.

The Wenatchee High School Tech Crew was in charge of playing music and showing music videos and important moments of the Oscar Awards.

“All the music has to be pre-approved to be played, the kind of music selected to be in the playlist involves a good variety of songs that people can get down and dance to,” Parkhill said. “We split it up into four sections: bangers, jams, grinds and slow dance songs.”

Auditorium Manager James Wallace and the Tech Crew used brand new speakers this year after renovation of the old ones.

Decorations include a red carpet, so it looked like people were walking in a movie premiere, and it looked similar to the posters. For refreshments, cookies and fresh fruit were offered.

A total of approximately 650 tickets were sold, 550 presale and approximately 100 sold at the door, according to junior class adviser Tami Walters, raising about $11,050. With the expected amount of tickets sold being 400, this total amount exceeded expectations.

“The money raised is part of ASB funds, but it goes to [the] 2015 class budget, and it will help to pay [for] next year’s senior party and such,” Atwood said.
