This year’s Tolo dance theme of “All American” has been decided on by the Wenatchee High School cheer team. Tolo will take place on March 14 and will be held in the new commons at WHS from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The theme was decided on by a couple of the senior cheerleaders, WHS assistant cheer coach Tasha Ritter said. “A couple of the seniors just decided they liked the way ‘All American’ could look and the fun outfits to dress up in,” she said.

The cheer captain, senior Sonia Bobadilla, is the one who officially came up with this theme. “Everyone is different, but we all share that we are American, so let’s celebrate,” Bobadilla said.

The cheerleaders will be setting up for the dance the night before and the day of the dance. “We have some pretty big ideas for the decorations, so it’s probably going to take a long time,” Ritter said.

Although being American is something that all of the WHS students share, they don’t all share the same likes. “I think the ‘All American’ theme is hard to dress for because what really defines Americans, since America is a melting pot,” junior Coyle Malikowski said.

Another student thought that they should have used a different theme, like Animal Farm. “I wish they would have thought of a different theme because we already had an American spirit day,” sophomore Kendal Buak said.

Tolo is a fun time for the cheerleaders because they get to bond while setting up and tearing down the dance, and they also get to enjoy being at Tolo together, sophomore cheerleader Amy Sand said.

The tickets are $8 per person and will be sold at the ASB office starting Feb. 23. The funds from the dance will go to the cheer team.
