ASB volunteers washed over 50 dogs on, March 11, at the Firehouse Pet Shop to raise money for the Wenatchee Humane Society.

Junior Jessica Murray met with the pet shop owner, who agreed to provide the space from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and resources such as shampoo for the event. Half the proceeds raised from the dog wash, $500, were presented to the Humane Society.

Junior Ryen Hunsaker volunteered for several hours at the wash and enjoyed the experience. He said that on a normal day at the Firehouse Pet Shop, about 20 owners bring their dogs in to be washed. But on the day of the Paw Wash, that number more than doubled.

“Even though the Humane Society isn’t directly connected to Wenatchee High School, it was nice to be able to do some good in the community,”  Hunsaker said.
