Wenatchee High School’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. assembly drew a silent and respectful student body while three speakers described real-life situations regarding multiple different kinds of discrimination.

Seniors Guadalupe Garnica and Tata Esquivel discussed a discriminating situation they experienced on their return from a mariachi trip last May. WHS special education teacher Danielle Ouellette covered the situation she dealt with growing up in the deep South with a pro-black mother and her grandpa, who was a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Former ASB President Crash Ketcham described dealing with people’s reactions to his homosexuality.
