Panthers power past State prelims

Nine Wenatchee High swim and dive athletes advanced to the State A finals, qualifying swimmers in nine of the 11 swimming events today in Federal Way.
To advance to the A finals, athletes must place in the top eight. Ninth through 16th place advance to B finals. Finals will be held tomorrow in Federal Way. Complete results can be found on www.wiaa.com. Live streaming of events can also be found there but there is a fee.
The 200-yard medley relay advanced into finals in second place. The team included junior Kailie Wulf, freshman Rae Ann Dressel, senior Isabelle Dressel, and senior Jessica Wierzbicki.
Junior Jordan Hartley advanced into A finals for the 200-yard freestyle, placing sixth.
Isabelle will be advancing to A finals after placing third in the 50-yard freestyle.
Senior Alyssa Laney placed tenth in diving semifinals and freshman Emily Brault placed 12th in semi finals.
Senior Rebecca Bay will be advancing to B finals after placing 13th.
Wierzbicki will be advancing to A finals after placing third in the 100-yard butterfly. Hartley placed eighth and will also be advancing to the A finals.
Rae Anne placed 16th in the 100-yard freestyle and will be advancing to the B finals.
Junior Hannah VanHeyningen placed third in the 500-yard freestyle and will be advancing to the A finals. Sophomore Hadassah Lurbur placed 14th and will be advancing to the B finals.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Isabelle, Wulf, Hartley, and Wierzbicki will be advancing to the A finals after placing fourth in prelims.
Wierzbicki placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke, Wulf placed 13th and will be advancing to B finals.
Isabelle placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke and Bay placed seventh, both will be advancing to the A finals.
The 400 yard freestyle relay, including Bay, Rae Anne, VanHeyningen, and Hartley placed eighth and will be advancing to the A finals.
Sophomore Alice Eifert placed 23rd in the 200-yard IM.
