November 7, 2016
Wenatchee High School seniors Moses Lurbur and Aria Tornabene achieved high marks at the 4A state competition in Pasco on Nov. 5.
Both fared well at the competition, the last of their seasons and high school careers. Lurbur ran a time of 16 minues, 59 seconds in the boys 5K race, finishing 93rd. Tornabene finished in 138th place in the girls 5K race, with a time of 21:06.
To qualify to the state competition, the runners had to place in the top 14 in their District races. Tornabene finished in 10th with a time of 20:19, and Lurbur crossed the finish line at 16:47, resulting in a fourth-place finish.
“It was really great to have the support from team members who didn’t make it but still came to cheer me on. It was really great to make it to State my senior year and have this kind of an ending to my senior year,” Lurbur said.
