The Wenatchee High School Speech and Debate team had a strong start to its season last Saturday in Yakima. WHS was led by senior Vivian Noyd, who took first in Open Extemporaneous speaking, Impromptu Speaking, and Congressional Debate.
Juniors Sebastian Pasion and Fernando Lopez won Duo Interpretation, sophomore Adamari Hernandez won Editorial Commentary, and Pasion was awarded best presiding officer. WHS also received the Top Small Team trophy for overall performance.
Noyd was happy to see the strong performance from this relatively young small team.
“I’m so proud to see such a strong transition for our younger members… and look forward to gaining more members and continuing to do well all year,” she said.
