The Wenatchee High School cheerleaders took third place in their first competition of the season at the Eastside Cheer Classic at North Central High School in Spokane on Jan. 7.

The students on the cheerleading team are seniors Melaina Cook, Kylie Romo, Gabriela Rodriguez, Kyra Nelson, Rosa Espinoza, and Austin Lozano. Juniors Catrina Russ, Camryn Herron, Breanne Stedman, sophomore Shayli Cook, and freshman Makaila LaFreniere, Jasmine Sanchez, and Angelina Salgado also competed with the team.

The Panthers compete again on Jan. 14 and Jan. 21. If they qualify at either of these, they will compete at the State competition on Jan. 28.
