October 28, 2016
Fifteen individuals from the Wenatchee Swim and Dive team and all three relay teams breezed through the Columbia Basin Big Nine District 6 preliminaries yesterday, qualifying for the championship finals.
Wenatchee swimmers took first in nine out of the 11 events held.
Seniors Jessica Wierzbicki and Isabelle Dressel, and junior Kailie Wulf improved their state-qualifying times.
Swimmers had to place in the top eight to advance to championship finals, which will be held this Saturday at Moses Lake High School. Wenatchee advanced swimmers in all 11 events. Divers will compete today.
“It went quite well,” Wenatchee swim and dive coach James Elwyn said. “For the most part it looks like we improved our position and most everybody that was looking to drop time today did.”
