WHS varsity football team falls to Richland
September 10, 2016
The Wenatchee High School varsity football team took a loss to the Richland team last night, 40-12.
The Panthers scored two touchdowns in the game, the first one in the third quarter by senior Tony Esquivel and another in the last two minutes of the game by sophomore Darius Carlson.
However, the Panthers never led, with Richland scoring a touchdown in the first two minutes and keeping the lead the rest of the way.
Wenatchee head coach Scott Devereaux noted that the Richland team was the No. 1 ranked football team in the state, and the Panthers used that to set their goals.
“We knew that this was going to be a great challenge,” Devereaux said. “Our goal is always to get better, and I felt like we took steps in the right direction.”
