Boys basketball back on track with two wins
The Panthers brought in two league wins this weekend, with victories over the Eisenhower Cadets on Dec. 19 and rival Eastmont Wildcats on Dec. 20. The Panthers led the entire game in both games this weekend.
“Offensively we did well, we played as a team the first half. Then the second half we were still executing on offense but we had to talk more to play better defensively. When that improves us as a unit, we will be one tough team to beat and it all starts on the practice court,” sophomore point guard Tony Esquivel said about the 80-51 win over the Cadets.
Wenatchee dominated Eisenhower, with eight out of nine players scoring and junior shooting guard Grady Miller hitting 6 three-pointers. Miller was the leading scorer for the Panthers.
Against Eastmont, the Panthers struggled with giving them second chance points but shut down their leading scorer, junior Brandon Porter. Wenatchee capitalized their rival 60-47 win with junior wing Gavin Long’s dunk over Eastmont senior Kyle Best with 5 seconds remaining.
“They couldn’t guard us at every position,” senior guard Christian Solovey said.
The Panther boys’ basketball team faces Everett in a non-league home game at 3 p.m. on Dec. 30.
