Boys soccer kicks it into high gear
The Wenatchee High School varsity boys soccer team is now advancing to the State quarterfinals after beating Kentwood 5-4.
Wenatchee maintained the lead the whole game, but Kentwood came from behind forcing the game to go into penalty kicks. Sophomore Luis Navarrete was the leading scorer with two goals and one PK for Wenatchee.
“Luis dominated at the top [of the field] and he is a key player. He uses his speed and strength to pass people, and he is just an all around great player,” sophomore Jake Slife said.
After dealing with their bus breaking down on the way to the game, causing the game to be pushed back an hour, the boys stepped it up and worked hard to walk away with the win.
The next game will be in Spokane at 7 p.m. against Lewis and Clark on Saturday. If the Panthers can win that game, they will be one of the top four teams in the state.
