Football continues winning streak with another blowout

The clouds spat on the few in attendance during Wenatchee’s 58-14 win over the Eisenhower Cadets Friday night. Senior running back Chase Resch ran all over the Cadets by racking up 80 yards on the ground and pounding the ball across the end zone twice.

Resch had what some consider now to be an “average game,” senior lineman Trey Adams said after the blowout. “We can always count on Chase to score. That’s what he does and he’s pretty … good at it.”

Defense and special teams were a huge part in Friday night’s win, accounting for 16 points. Senior defensive back Killion McGinnis recovered a blocked punt and took it into the end zone, which lead to the Panther defense pouncing on the Eisenhower punter in the end zone for a safety. To top off a night of great defense and special teams, Resch scored on an 83-yard kickoff return.

The Panthers didn’t throw the ball much during the game — junior quarterback Brandon Graves ended with 79 yards and two touchdowns. McGinnis was on the receiving end of Graves’ first bullet for a 51-yard touchdown, and to end the first half Graves found sophomore receiver Tony Esquivel for a 28-yard TD.

The Panthers (6-1) will need to be on their A game next week as they host the 6-and-1 Moses Lake Chiefs for the Homecoming game that has league championship and playoff implications. All Panther football games can be heard on Z-country 94.7 FM.
