Fall is finally here and Halloween is right around the corner, so grab your pumpkin spiced latte and a bundle of blankets because I’m about to tell you the top five things to do on Halloween.

1. Trick-or-Treating

It’s never too late to get up and go trick or treating. Whether it is with a younger sibling or just a group of friends you can always throw on a last minute costume or simply grab your pillowcase and head out to town and scrounge up some candy. Too old for trick or treating? There’s no such thing, of course if you are too embarrassed to show your inner child try handing out the candy instead, that way you can still sneak a couple pieces in.

2. Halloween Parties

Halloween doesn’t have to be all about begging strangers for candy. There are always a ton of parties around Halloween that you can go to, or you could even throw a party of your own. If you don’t want to go through all the fuss of throwing an extravagant party, you could always get together with a small group of friends and crank up the music, just make sure to throw in a couple snacks and games to keep the night fun and entertaining.

3. Carve a Pumpkin

Getting together with a couple friends and holding a pumpkin carving contest is one of the best ways to spend the night. Most stores have pumpkins in stock throughout the Halloween season but you can also try stopping by a pumpkin patch to pick out your perfect “canvas.” The whole carving process can get a little messy, so you can always paint the pumpkin instead. No matter what you choose to do with your pumpkin it will all be worth it in the end.

4. Try Baking

Having to go out on Halloween isn’t always the most favorable idea, so why not stay in and try baking some Spooky themed treats instead? You can start out by baking cookies in the shape of bats or pumpkins, you can also try decorating some cupcakes to look like tombstones. Is baking not really your thing? Try shaping rice crispy treats instead. No actual baking is involved, just some funky shaped cooky cutters or a sharp knife to cut out the shapes.

5. Binge the Classics

Not in the mood to do anything but still looking to have a fun night? Stock up on loads of candy and watch all the horror classics. If you’re not sure what to watch, Netflix has a wide variety of horror movies that you could try. While “The Shining” and “Children of the Corn” are among the list you can also try watching movies like “The Conjuring,” “It Follows” and “Train to Busan.” Whether you watch alone or with a friend, make sure to watch with the lights off and the volume all the way up.
