WHS football players make top 100 list
After the Seattle Times annual chip list was released on Jan. 26, Wenatchee High School senior football players Isaiah Brandt-Sims and Jakob Stoll were ranked in the top 100 football recruits in the state of Washington.
The list categorizes football athletes into three areas, Blue Chips, Red Chips, and White Chips. Blue chips are identified as the most elite players in the 2014 graduating class in Washington state. Brandt-Sims, one of 13 other red chips are players “considered capable of starting in a major conference such as the Pac-12 or starring in a lesser conference,” according to the Seattle Times. The white chips, including Stoll, are the remaining 83 players in the top 100 football players named in Washington state.
The list is compiled by a Seattle Times reporter with input from recruiting experts and numerous high school coaches.
“We’ve had two kids make the list before, but it’s not very common,” Coach Scott Devereaux said. “Next year they will both be redshirts, so they will both have a good development year to get physically ready for the high level of football.”
Brandt-Sims committed to play football and run track at Stanford University last spring and officially signed on Feb. 5.
“It’s really exciting and I’m glad that they believe in me enough to put me on the list,” Brandt-Sims said. “Now I can’t wait to go to college and how them what I can do.”
Stoll has verbally committed to Eastern Washington University to participate in their football program, and will arrive next fall as a “preferred walk-on.”
