Wrestler ends his high school career at State
Wenatchee High School senior Eric Briley closed out his prep wrestling career at the WIAA Mat Classic at the Tacoma Dome on Feb. 19-20, falling to the eventual state champion in his weight class.
Briley was defeated by Trysten Perales of Lake Stevens High School in the first round. Perales continued on to place first in the 145-pound weight class for 4A schools. In consolation rounds, Briley won his first match by pinning John Bittinger of Gig Harbor, but then lost 14-4 to Logan Pine of Olympia.
Briley was the only member of the WHS wrestling team to qualify for State. It was Briley’s second trip to the state tournament.
