A new way to get a Homecoming dress
Girls are always searching for the perfect dress for homecoming, but it’s likely that their top choice won’t be very affordable. Some girls have multiple dresses sitting in the back of their closets after only being worn for one night, which leaves a number of expensive dresses gone to waste. To help this problem, Wenatchee High School is holding a homecoming dress swap in the new commons tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m.
After hearing about a dress swap that took place at Hanford High School from a friend, senior ASB assistant coordinator Devyn Blakney decided to start one at WHS. This event includes swapping dresses with others, and selling and buying dresses at affordable prices.
“Homecoming and prom dresses can be expensive, so I thought this would be a good way for a less expensive option, whether they want to save money or really just can’t afford a new designer dress,” Blakney said.
Although the idea is to buy and sell dresses from previous homecoming dances, items may consist of anything ranging from classy evening dresses to maxi prom dresses.
Homecoming is just around the corner on Oct. 25, and attending this dress swap will save people money as well as a trip to Seattle to purchase a dress, Blakney said.
The homecoming dress swap has been advertised through Facebook, flyers, and conversation throughout the school. Although the dress swap is hosted at WHS, girls from any school are welcome to attend.
