All-District art festival to feature multiple WHS groups

Art teacher Don Collins

The All District Music and Arts Festival is on Wednesday, May 28, at Wenatchee High School and features art and musical performances from Wenatchee School District students K-12.

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., musical performances will be happening in the gym, while a gallery of student’s work will be displayed in the new and old commons, for no admission charge.

The festival happens every two years, said art teacher Dan Collins, and each one is different, because of the new and wide variety of students who participate and are featured at the festival.

“I look forward to see all the works,” Collins said. “In music the parents of the kids always go see the programs, but, in art the parents don’t always see the work. This festival provides that opportunity. When I see a kid who’s in elementary school bring mom and dad to see their art, and how that kid is so proud of what they’ve created, just makes the festival for me. Thats what its all about.”

For Choir Director Dawn McCormick, this will be the first time participating in the festival.

“I’m excited for it because it shows the community how many students are involved in the arts throughout the district, and how important it is in education,” McCormick said.
