ASB officers and sports teams make waves at WHS’s first pep assembly of the year

September 11, 2015

Voices echo through the gym as the entire student population shuffles into the bleachers. Students gather in their own sections, with each grade moving to it’s designated area. The clamor falls silent as two figures, one freshman and one senior, make their way to the center of the gym.

“Our theme for this year is ‘Connect the dots,’ ” senior ASB assembly coordinator Lily Italiane said. According to Italiane, they wanted to create an assembly every student, no matter their grade level would enjoy.

The assembly was hosted by senior Joe Sells and freshman Ellie Italiane. During the assembly, students were treated to the dance routines that every fall sports program had cooked up for the event. Freshmen received their customary chant of “Four more years,” and the assembly was closed with WHS cheerleaders leading the school in a rousing rendition of the WHS fight song.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this school,” first-year Principal Eric Anderson said.
