Boys soccer team shoots for State
The Wenatchee High School boys soccer team punched its ticket into the State semifinals with a 2-1 win over Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, Saturday May 21. Sophomore Jason Shepherd scored both goals. This happened three days after a nail-biting win against Kentwood High School in the round of 16.
The Panthers have had one of the hardest roads to the State tournament. Starting with a 3-0 win in a district play-in game against West Valley (Yakima), then a suspenseful victory over the Eastmont Wildcats that went into penalty kicks. Their last game of the Big 9 District tournament ended with a 2-0 win against Sunnyside High School, sending the Panthers to Kent.
The boys will play Central Valley High School on Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m., a rematch of last year’s State semifinal game. If they win, they will play in the state championship at 5 p.m. on Saturday. If they lose, they will play at noon for the third-place game on Saturday.

Great job Panther players and coaches. This says a lot about the quality of teams in our league.
