Freshman leads debate team in Gig Harbor
The Wenatchee High School debate team brought home three trophies from the Gig Harbor tournament this weekend, with one WHS student placing first and two others placing third.
Freshman Cassandra Noyd placed first in the humorous interpretation event.
“It went well. Our team did well, we were up against competitive teams,” Noyd said.
The team won in two events, humorous interpretation and extemporaneous debate. Sophomore Sebastion Pasion took third for humorous interpretation, and junior Vivian Noyd came in third place for extemporaneous debate.
“It’s one of our toughest national competitors, but we did okay. We brought home three trophies, it was a huge eye opener, mostly for upperclassmen but also for everyone else,” Speech and Debate Adviser Dave Carlson said.
