Higher Education Night to promote opportunities for college-bound students
The 11th annual Higher Education Night, sponsored by the Migrant and Bilingual program, will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Wenatchee High School commons from 6 to 8 p.m. The purpose of the event is to promote opportunities for higher education during and after high school.
Higher Education Night is a no-cost event and though the target market is migrant and bilingual students, it is open to all parents and students, according to WHS family advocate Yadira Luna. All agencies present will have a table of information and a representative available to answer any questions about their programs.
“I think it’s an awesome opportunity for students to make college comparisons and explore different career pathways,” said Luna.
Wenatchee School District programs and resources attending include AVID, GEAR UP, AP (Advanced Placement), WTSC (Wenatchee Tech Skills Center), CTE (Career Technical Education), Wenatchee Learns, WSD special programs, and WSD Family Advocate Team.
Colleges and universities in attendance include Western Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Central Washington University, University of Washington, Washington State University, and Wenatchee Valley College. Military branches in attendance include U.S. Army, Navy, and Marines.
