Homecoming committee aims for magical results
Wenatchee High School’s ASB cabinet announced this year’s Homecoming theme, “Once Upon a Time,” on Friday, Sept. 6.
“We thought that it [the theme] fit the essence of Homecoming,” said junior Activities Coordinator Maddie Steitz. “It’s just a romantic and magical night.”
The dance will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 p.m. to midnight in the main gym. Steitz said they had hoped to have Homecoming outside so it would be “under the stars,” but they were unable to make it work.
“We want the dance to be classy,” said Steitz. “We want it to feel like you’re going to Cinderella’s ball.”
Ticket prices will differ this year in comparison to past dances; tickets will cost $12 for singles and $20 for couples.
According to Steitz, the prices increased because Homecoming is the biggest fundraiser for the school for the year. In addition, the school won’t be making as much money to begin with because of the loss of vending machines.
Senior Mary Rowles, also an activities coordinator, said they wanted a theme that was somewhat “dreamy” and one that inspired a pretty background to use for the photos.
“I just want to make it really fun and a night to remember,” said Rowles. “Homecoming isn’t just for couples, it’s for singles and friends too.”
Steitz said they hope more people will stay at the dance this year and enjoy it.
“We’re going to get a really awesome DJ,” said Steitz. “It’s all about having a good time; our goal is to create a night that’s a happily ever after.”
