The 18th annual Janice Franz Talent Show is ready for its debut night tonight at 7 after a final dress rehearsal last night.

With 18 different acts and more than 25 participants, this year’s show is well equipped to entertain. From singing to dancing to spoken poetry, this year’s show will showcase all the hidden talents of Wenatchee High School students and some staff.

“I’ve never been in the talent show before,” senior Mirsa Cassiano said. “I figured it’s my last year and I’d never done it before, so why not?”

Among the acts playing, only one will be making an appearance in five separate performances. Senior Matt Terry has been doing the show since his freshman year and figured he’d go all out this year.

“I’m pretty excited for opening night. It’s been a lot working on five acts,” Terry said. “I’m just excited for everyone to see the talents of everyone.”

Three WHS teachers will also be making appearances in the show. Choir Director Dawn McCormick will be singing with her daughter, Tessa, and English teachers Brian Higgins and Dave Riggs will be performing a poem together.

“I haven’t been nervous to be on stage, but the last few nights I’ve been super nervous,” Higgins said.

This year’s Janice Franz beneficiary is the 2-year-old daughter of former WestSide High School student Ana Ventura. Ventura lost her battle against brain cancer last December. The money raised during the three-day show will go towards Ventura’s medical bills as well as her daughter’s college fund.

The talent show will take place tonight, tomorrow, and Friday evenings at 7 p.m. The event will also feature a new silent auction on all three nights, with all proceeds going toward the Ventura family. Ticket sales start at 6 p.m. and doors to the show open at 6:30 p.m. $8 tickets are available at the door, or by calling 664-3678.
