Journalism fundraiser to feature local author
The annual J-Booster fundraiser hosted by Wenatchee High School’s journalism department will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 13 at Pybus Market.
Admission is free. Desserts, supplied by local bakeries, will be provided along with coffee, punch and water.
This year’s event will feature local author Kay Kenyon, who will be the guest speaker for the evening. Kenyon is the author of 10 science fiction books. Her most recent book, A Thousand Perfect Things, a fantasy novel, will be on sale at the fundraiser. Kenyon also is the author of Bright of the Sky, book one of a sci-fi quartet which was Publishers Weekly top book of the year.
J-Boosters is the main source of funding for the journalism program at WHS, for all the money donated goes to new equipment for the student newspaper and yearbook, such as computers, cameras and new software. It also helps to support the two scholarships that are given each year.
Donations from the fundraiser will also assist in supporting the two trips taken by the journalism department each year, which include a summer camp and a trip to the national convention.
Anyone is welcome to attend and support Wenatchee High School’s journalism program.
