Martin Luther King Jr. assembly speaks out on diversity, discrimination
January 15, 2016
Students were frozen in their seats with emotion, as personal anecdotes showing the terror of discrimination in our society were shared by anonymous speakers at the Martin Luther King Jr. assembly.
“Love your neighbor,” ASB Adviser Brent Grothe said. He told a story about his life where he had to overcome his judgments and first impressions of his neighbor in order to create a positive relationship with him.
Also speaking were seniors Julia Jobe and Dani Kapeikis who emcee’d the assembly and sophomore Cascade Crum and senior Luz Estrada who spoke on Diversity Council.
