Opening assembly sparks pride within student body

September 2, 2016

Scores of students erupted into songs, cheers, and even some light choreography during the Wenatchee High School opening assembly today.

Senior Melaina Cook led the student body in the Panther fight song, as well as several other customary cheers to get them ready for the first home football game against Richland next Friday, Sept. 9 at the Apple Bowl.

WHS Principal Eric Anderson encouraged students to follow school social media, promising an incentive of a full-hour lunch next Friday if the goal of 2,000 Facebook page likes is met.

Senior ASB President Rowan Parmenter reiterated the ASB theme this year: “We serve.” Parmenter asked students to bring ideas to ASB leaders so that they can make the WHS environment more positive for all students.

The assembly also featured a mass Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament and a manic dash among the crowd to collect random items like belts, shoes, a sock, a penny, an apple, and other items.
