April 17, 2015

In the second annual Panther Dancing with the Stars, hosted by the Wenatchee High School ASB, four dance couples competed to earn the title of Panther DWTS champions. Math teacher Rudy Joya and junior Courtney Merrill were announced as winners by the ASB this afternoon.

The assembly also featured students running for ASB office next year, with students voting afterwards. Junior Christian Brandt-Sims was selected as ASB president. Junior Ethan Knutson will be ASB vice president. Sophomore Madi McLaughlin was selected as ASB secretary, and sophomore Richardson Jackson, who ran unopposed, was selected as secretary.

Couples who danced include school board member Robert Sealby and his senior daughter Ali, math teacher Rudy Joya and junior Courtney Merrill, special education teacher and administrative intern Anikka Bibby and senior Kyle Norland, and Mariachi Director Ramon Rivera and junior Amancia Solano.

The pairs were judged by English teacher Dani Schafer-Cloke, science teacher Michael Lasater, and Assistant Principal Dave Perkins. Students also had the opportunity to weigh in and vote.

Panther Dancing with the Stars is back on stage at the Apple Blossom Food Fair April 28 at 7:15 p.m. New couples will perform, including the 2015 Apple Blossom Royalty.
