Pros and cons of online shopping

You see it.. the new Michael Kors purse, there’s one left. You start to make your way over to it, your walk turns into running. Right before you get to put your hand on a beautiful treasure that you have been dreaming about, the snobby lady comes out of nowhere and takes it out right from underneath you, as well as your dignity. With online shopping, unfortunate events just like this one won’t happen. There are many pros and cons to online shopping. Many aren’t exposed to it so I’m going to try to briefly explain the pains, but also the joys, that come from sitting behind a computer, filling up your shopping cart and purchasing a bunch of items that may or may not fulfill your desires.

Let’s start with the cons and get them out in the open.

1) It doesn’t fit you the way it fit the model on the screen.

You can’t tell me you have never seen a model wearing a clothing item, and you fell in love with it automatically because of how perfect it looked. But as soon as you put it on yourself, you were filled with disappointment and regret, especially after spending money on something that makes you look the opposite way of how you want to look.

2) It takes years to get to your home.

Ok, a year is exaggerating, but seriously sometimes I’ll forget what I even ordered by the time it actually gets to me. When you order something online, you have to order it in mind that it may take a while before you will get to wear it.

3) Finding the perfect item and then realizing they don’t have your size.

Who else has looked for hours and hours on a website. Looking at things you want to buy and taking time debating if it’s perfect for you, then realizing they don’t even have your size?! It’s definitely a struggle that happens to everyone.

There are also pros to online shopping that make it worth it despise the cons that come along the way.

1) You don’t have to go out and interact with all the people in the store.

Especially during the holidays; you don’t have to shop with all the crazy people. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like being pushed around just so someone can get that cool new x-box that just came out.

2) No long lines!

Who has walked into a store and noticed how long the checkout line was, proceeding to walk out of the store? I know I’m guilty of this. With online shopping you don’t have to worry about lines, and you can get all your shopping done in just a few minutes with a few clicks of a button; it’s magical.

3) You get to shop 24/7 (and in your sweats!!)

This one is actually pretty self explanatory. I’ll be the first one to admit I’ve searched for formal dresses at 11 o’clock at night sporting a face mask and wearing pajama shorts with pineapples on them. Try getting away with THAT at your local store.

As you can see, sometimes it can be a sticky situation deciding to shop online or not. The holidays are coming up and a lot of people will be hit with this dilemma but hopefully this opened your eyes up a little bit more to what’s going on here in the online world. But all in all, shopping is a fantastic activity in stores or online. You just have to decide if the cons are worth the pros, and I believe they are.
