Senior signs with Air Force Academy
November 28, 2016
Two-time state champion, All-American swimmer, and senior Jessica Wierzbicki signed with the United States Air Force Academy for swimming on Nov. 16.
“[The Air Force Academy] will be a lot of work, but will also be a great thing for her, to set her up for the next step of her life,” Athletic Director Jim Beeson said, when asked about what Wierzbicki’s future holds. “She’s a great swimmer, she’s a great kid, and a great student. Those things put together add up to good things… The avenues that will open up for her are endless.”
After graduating the Air Force Academy, cadets must serve as a commissioned officer in the Air Force for at least eight years, five of which must be active duty, and the remainder can be served as inactive reserve.
“I like the idea of having a purpose,” Wierzbicki said, when asked why she chose to sign with Air Force. “I want to do something more with my life, to find a higher meaning.”
