Two Wenatchee High School male students were arrested during school March 20 on suspicion of possessing and intending to sell “legend drugs,” according to a police report obtained by The Apple Leaf through a public records request to the Wenatchee Police Department.

The names and descriptions of the juveniles are not being released due to state privacy laws.

School district Safety and Security Officer Don Durden “saw two males exiting a car in the parking lot of the Wenatchee High School on surveillance video” around 1 p.m. March 20. As the students returned to class, Durden stopped Student One because he noticed Student One and Two using an e-cigarette as both students entered the building, the police report said.

During Durden’s search of Student One’s backpack, Durden found an “unlabeled prescription bottle” which later turned out to be Adderall, according to the police report.

Student One then went to his car with Durden where two bottles of nicotine oil were found along with “leafy green material suspected to be marijuana,” and a second electronic cigarette, the police report said.

The Adderall pills were given to Student One by Student Two to sell, according to the police report. Eight out of the 12 pills had already been sold.

During the interview with Student One at WHS by Assistant Principal Gracie Helm and Durden, it was decided to call police. The police started interviews with Student One at that point, according to the police report.

Student Two was then brought in for an interview with Assistant Principal Donna Moser, parents, and police. According to the police report, this student had the Adderall pills as part of the “treatment of his diagnosed illness.” Student Two told police that he gave them to Student One to sell in an unlabeled bottle because it was “easier” that way.

Both students were booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of possessing a legend drug with the intent to deliver and violation of the labeling requirements for a legend drug, the documents filed with the court said.

One student was released on $500 bail. The other student was let go without bail after a plea from his parents in court, according to minutes from the first court hearing.

The students are now awaiting arraignment hearings in Chelan County Superior Court on April 10, a Chelan County Superior Court Clerk official said.

“The Wenatchee High School administration will always work with the Wenatchee Police Department on any matters involving the safety and security of the student body at Wenatchee High School,” Principal Bob Celebrezze said in response to the incident.
