Wenatchee football: a powerhouse at Eastmont

The Panthers huddle after the game to celebrate the victory.

The Panthers dominated the first of two Battle of the Bridges games held at Eastmont High School last Friday night, winning 44-10, improving Wenatchee’s overall record to 3-1. The official Battle of the Bridges game isn’t scheduled until Nov. 1, which means the game on Sept. 27 was a league game.

Within the first 10 minutes of the game, Wenatchee hit the ground running with a touchdown by senior Dillon Sugg. Junior Garrett King kicked a field goal not long after that.

Eastmont wasn’t on the board until the second quarter when the Wildcats kicked a field goal.

Seniors Zach Larsen and Isaiah Brandt-Sims scored back-to-back touchdowns within about five minutes of each other during the second quarter. At the half, Wenatchee was ahead 24-3.

The Panthers came back from halftime still on fire and senior Spencer Smith scored another touchdown about eight minutes into the third quarter.

Less than two minutes later, senior Blake Aguilar had another touchdown on the board for Wenatchee.

Eastmont finally scored a touchdown at the 10:41 mark of the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Joe Sells had a huge breakaway during the fourth quarter, scoring the final touchdown for Wenatchee.

The Panthers are back at home next Friday, Oct. 4, playing Chiawana for Homecoming.
