Wenatchee High golfers club their way to satisfaction
Wenatchee girls golf took second out of 16 teams in the Wenatchee Valley Girls Championship at the Highlander Golf Course on March 21. Junior Carly Bozett led the team with a 79 and placed third overall.
Boys golf has started their season leading their entire league, despite their top golfer, junior Brady Kuntz, being held back by very serious back injuries that he suffered during the basketball season.
“It’s getting better every day, but I still can’t swing like I could last year,” Kuntz said. He led his team, which took first overall, with a 77 in the Kennewick Invitational at the Tri-Cities Country Club on March 14, the team finished with a 426.
The girls started off their season by finishing fourth out of 15 schools, led by Bozett, who shot a 95 in The Moses Lake Invite at The Moses Lake Country Club on March 17. “That’s a great start the season, I have no complaints,” Bozett said.
The boys faced some of the roughest winds many of them have ever seen at Kennewick. “It was extremely windy and even though I didn’t shoot very well in comparison to my regular play, I was lucky to shoot what I shot,” junior Brandon Steele said, who shot an 85.
“It was a challenging day and we were faced with some unfortunate obstacles, but the boys pushed through and started the season off right,” boys Coach Stanley Opp said.
