On Thursday, Sept. 11 the Wenatchee High School Varsity Volleyball team held their first home opener against Davis High School’s Varsity Volleyball team, taking place at Wenatchee High School’s main gym.
Wenatchee High School fans lined the stands, dressed in their best tropical attire. Cheering beside them was a crowd of family and friends of the Wenatchee Panthers.
Following a loss of their first non-league game against Lynden High School, the energy in the gym could not be ignored.
The game began at 6:30, which is a new start time compared to the past years of Wenatchee Volleyball. Following an electric set of warm ups, the first serve was up, followed by a quick first point for Wenatchee.
The teamwork of Wenatchee volleyball stood high on their list of accomplishments, matching the “family first” message that is written on their sleeves. Coming together after every point, (won or lost) the team stood together through it all. Wenatchee ended up winning the match 3-0, final scores being 25-23 and 25-22, 25-15.
Along with the energy on the court, the stand’s energy was not to be missed. Both Davis and Wenatchee had a grand support system in the stands.
Even though many of Wenatchee volleyball’s starting players graduated last year, they have proved that they are a strong program and so is the sisterhood they have built.
Next up, Wenatchee volleyball will be playing an away game at West Valley High School on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The next home game will be on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 against the Moses Lake Mavericks.
