Beneficiary forms for Janice Franz Talent Show released to public

The Janice Franz Talent Show beneficiary forms are open to the public to fill out. The show itself does not have a definite date, but the forms can be filled out for a person in need of serious financial help.

The person selected is generally a person who suffers from an illness such as cancer, who lacks the ability to pay for their medical bills and expenses, much like the original beneficiary, Janice Franz.

Franz was a teacher at Wenatchee High School during the year of 1998 who eventually learned that she had multiple types of cancer in her body. The first talent show was held later that same year so that all the money collected would be donated to Franz so that she could pay for medical expenses.

Since then, students have been putting on the talent show for other people with similar conditions so they too can receive help.

Last year, the family of Jocelyn Hernandez was the beneficiary for the talent show. Hernadez’s mother had brain cancer, and after surgery she had succumbed to the condition leaving behind Hernandez and her single father.

Other people who are in the Wenatchee community will be considered even if they don’t suffer from conditions
such as cancer.

“I hope that one year we won’t have to do the talent show because that means that nobody has cancer,” ASB Adviser Brent Grothe said.
