Boys and girls take the win over Sunnyside

The Wenatchee boys basketball team struggled to stay ahead during the first half of their game against Sunnyside at home on Saturday night, but picked up their offensive game second half to result in a 58-42 win for the Panthers. The Lady Panthers beat Sunnyside 78-69 Saturday night, as well.

“We came out flat to start the game and that was the reason we were down after the first quarter. We did not shoot well against Sunnyside and were only 2-19 from the 3 point line. However, we did a great job in the second half of crashing the offensive boards and I thought it made the difference in the game,” head coach Travis Williams said.

The Panthers didn’t come out with full intensity and allowed Sunnyside to score multiple times. They were down early in the game, but picked it up on defense and worked harder for rebounds.

“We played pretty sloppy in the first half, but we managed to pick it up in the second half and found a way to win,” junior shooting guard Grady Miller said. The Panthers only had a four-point lead at halftime, but the change that the Panthers brought during the second half of the game locked in the win.
