Junior shooting guard Grady Miller got off to a hot start last Friday, hitting three three-pointers in the first quarter of the Panthers’ game against the West Valley Rams. Wenatchee defeated the Rams 50-33 in their first meeting of the season.

The Panthers capitalized their lead after the half with back to back dunks by Miller and junior wing Gavin Long, which derailed the Rams hopes of any comeback.

“It was good to get a league win on the road,” senior post Matt Murray said.

The Panthers fell to the Davis Pirates last Saturday by 1 point, with a final score of 75-74.

Davis senior Max Jones hit four three-pointers and collected 11 offensive rebounds, which ultimately left Wenatchee down by 12 at the first half.

The Panthers came out with a spark rallying them back in the second half. They took a two point lead with 50 seconds remaining, only to give up three offensive rebounds and an open three on the Pirate’s last possession. This put the Pirates ahead by one with 15.5 seconds remaining. The Panthers then executed their final play perfectly, but were not able to hit an open three with the time remaining.

“We came back with more intensity in the second half, and executed what we needed to do to put us in position to win,” senior guard Christian Solovey said. “It just didn’t end in our favor.”
