Dodgeball tournament crowns “Tank Top Team” champions

And the winner is … “Tank Top Team.” Another evening of Homecoming week and it proved to be nothing short of exciting. Thirteen yellow balls, six teams, five minutes a match, and one throw to win it all — the 2014 Homecoming dodgeball tournament. The war took place in the small gym.

“Whoever plays next year should watch out,” said junior captain Michael Buehn of Tank Top Team. He said that they were pumped to play in their first year. The team’s motto came from the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story: “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!”

When “DODGEBALL” was shouted by referee Scott Devereaux, the teams ran to the balls at the mid-court mark, but could not throw them until they ran to the baseline where they started from. After that it was an all-out, dodge balls out, free-for-all.

After winning the title, Tank Top Team wound up playing all the teams combined in a dodgeball frenzy, which of course resulted in the large team beating the champions.
