Football going into Eastmont game with big win over Sunnyside

The 3-and-1 Wenatchee Panthers — led by senior Chase Resch’s four touchdowns — traveled to Sunnyside on Friday night to face the winless Grizzlies, beating them 58-0 on their Homecoming night.

Resch scored four touchdowns in just about every way possible. Resch started off the game with a 6-yard touchdown run. On the Grizzlies next possession, Resch picked off Sunnyside’s quarterback and ran it back to the end zone. A few drives later, junior quarterback Brandon Graves connected with Resch on a 59-yard touchdown pass. In the final minutes, Gavin Long blocked a field goal which lead to Resch picking up the loose ball and scampering 70 yards for the score.

Graves had an outstanding game, passing for 261 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Gavin Long, junior Grady Miller, senior Adam Chvilicek, senior Markus Stoll and Resch were all on the receiving end of those touchdown passes.

Junior running back Joe Sells had a solid game after returning from a knee injury. Sells rushed for 55 yards on six carries.

“It just feels nice to be back on the field with my teammates,” Sells said.

This Friday the Panthers travel to face the Eastmont Wildcats in the Battle of the Bridges rivalry game. Wenatchee and Eastmont are currently tied for first place in the Big Nine Athletic Conference. The pre-game show begins at 6:45 p.m. on 94.7 Z-country.
