From Here To Now To You: album review 4/5 pumpkins
From the infamous “Banana Pancakes” to the sweet sounds of “Better Together,” there is no doubt that singer/songwriter Jack Johnson has proved everybody’s favorite beachy-bonfire singer. With his new album, From Here to Now to You, Johnson proves to be more than just a few-hit wonder.
With his album feeling a bit less beachy-bonfire, and feeling a bit more serious, Jack Johnson appeals to all audiences. With the upbeat “Tape Deck,” all the way to the sweet serenade of “I Got You,” this album is one that is sure to be set on repeat. His chill rock feel mixes with a feel good alternative mix to produce one of the most anticipated albums this year.
Although Johnson’s old hits will never seem to disappear, he still manages to produce new top 100 hits. For those looking for an album to tingle their inner surfer senses, or even their “adult dinner party” senses, this album is sure to reach expectations.
The diversity factor of this album is another one of Johnson’s specialties. Avoiding the typical sappy love songs, Johnson sings about his first band, as well as past occupations and songs to motivate. However, there are the feel-good romantic songs you can expect from this Hawaii-living singer.
Feeling a bit let down? Listen to “Washing Dishes.” Feeling a bit love-sick? Listen to “Home.” Feeling like nothing can tear you down? Listen to “Radiate.” With the diverse song choice on this album, Johnson is sure to not disappoint the ear.
