Girls’ opinion on guys’ clothing: what’s impressive at WHS
“Style” and “high school boys” usually aren’t words one will find in the same sentence. The following is how most girls feel about both of those things. (This is a followup to The Apple Leaf‘s collection of quotes from guys about their opinions of girls fashion in the last issue.)
The good
“I wish that guys at our school would dress nice. I like how [senior] Christian Williams dresses, like his khakis and bowties are nice. I just like it when guys actually have a sense of style.”
-Senior Abby McKay
“I like jeans or khakis because they look more dressed up and put together. I get sick of the Nike shirts. [Boys who wear jeans] look better; they don’t look like they just rolled out of bed.”
-Sophomore Julia Jobe
The bad
“I guess it doesn’t really matter because it’s their style, but when their pants are hanging low so that you can see their underwear — that’s not cute.”
-Sophomore Lindsey Ortiz
“I feel like if people wear clothing, it should fit — not form fit — but at least fit. Why try to wear something that big when you aren’t that size?”
-Junior Maya Aguigui
“I don’t like it when guys dress up, when guys wear designer jeans it bugs me. It looks like they’re trying too hard.”
-Freshman Paige Chvilicek
The ugly–basketball shorts
“It’s annoying when [boys] wear basketball shorts every day. They should wear some real clothes, like pants or jeans, every once in a while. Mix it up?”
-Sophomore Alex Hale
“Why do [boys] wear shorts in the winter? I mean pants exist. It makes me feel cold. You don’t see girls walking around in flip-flops.”
-Senior Michell Lopez
“[Wearing Jordan basketball shorts and Nike Elite socks] kind of bugs me. It makes them look all swagged out. It looks good on some guys, but bad on others.”
-Sophomore Quennia Calixto
