The Panthers scored the game’s only goal during the second half. The goal was scored by sophomore Ellie Toth with an assist from junior Ariana Escobedo. Wenatchee soccer coach John Springer attributed the win to the team’s outstanding communication skills, especially between goalies junior Erin Aamold and sophomore Haley Mathews.

The Panthers had two close calls in the first few minutes of the game, with two shots bouncing off Wenatchee’s post. However, Aamold pulled off 10 saves and Mathews saved six, completely shutting down the Central Valley offense.

“The team communicated and positioned themselves well, and worked their tails off to get there,” Springer said. “This was a great start to the season, and I’m impressed with the great way they played.”
