The clock seems to slow as the last minutes of class tick away before Winter Break. Five…Four…Three…Two…One. Sayonara 2015. School is behind us, and the realization of two unplanned and unpredictable weeks hits full force. Whether you’re traveling, or just chilling at home, here are a few useful ideas to jumpstart your winter vacation.

  1. Go see a movie: This month is definitely a time to go and visit the cinema. With new movies ranging from the much anticipated Star Wars:The Force Awakens to the comical new horror movie Krampus, there is a little something for everyone.
  2. Make the trip up to Leavenworth: With only a half-hour drive from Wenatchee to Leavenworth, it is a sight that everyone should see. People from all over the map travel to the festive little town. Leavenworth is especially beautiful in the winter, with the lighting of the trees, and Christmas spirit all around.
  3. Shred some powder at Mission Ridge: Mission Ridge is another great option to venture during the holidays. Whether you’re a novice or a real pro, it provides an exhilarating experience for all who visit. There are opportunities to take lessons on the bunny hill, or ride one of the four chairlifts up the mountain.
  4. Ice-skate with friends and family: The Town Toyota Center holds daily public skating sessions on the ice rink. On weekdays, it is usually held from 1-3 p.m., and on weekends from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Check their website for official times and dates. Also, on Saturday Dec.19, the ice rink is hosting the Winter Break Kick-Off event, where admissions are half price. It is from 7-9 p.m.

No matter what you choose to do during your winter vacation, make it a memorable one. Have an enjoyable and safe Winter Break.
