Live For Adventure race back for a third year
Today at the Apple Bowl and Triangle Park, students, staff, and adults from the Wenatchee Valley will participate in the third annual Live For Adventure Race to raise money for school programs in the Wenatchee School District.
In 2012, Wenatchee High School raised $2,750. The money was split between Sports Medicine, Panther Wrestling, and DECA. Almost all teams who participated in the WSD were benefitted by this event.
The Live For Adventure Race is a race put together with three stages, a run, bike, and cardiovascular stage, a sports and games skills stage, and a strength and agility obstacle stage.
Teams may either enter as a group of three or may also participate in the iron man division, a new option that has not been available in previous years.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division. The winners have the choice to donate their prize to any program in the schools of WSD.
According to Jon DeJong, Assistant Superintendent of Organizational Development for WSD, the Live For Adventure Race is a great opportunity for people to help raise money for their schools while helping promote an active lifestyle.
“First, it’s an easy way to make money for your school in one day,” said DeJong. “Second, we want to support the community members who are supporting us.”
As of Sept. 24, only 14 teams had registered for the event, compared to the 80 teams that participated in 2012.
The event will begin today at noon and will conclude with a championship final at 1:45 p.m.
