Panther basketball finishes in top eight

Wenatchee High School Panthers boys basketball season ended with a loss at the

Tacoma Dome Friday against the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups, 65-51.

The Panthers finished the season with a 16-9 record. Sophomores Gavin Long and Grady Miller will return next year and are proven to be assets by being the lead scorers of Gonzaga Prep game with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Wenatchee had chances to take the game in the final minutes of the third quarter, but after Gonzaga Prep scored a three-pointer the Spokane club seized control.

The major loss the Panther program will encounter next year is the graduation of senior Dillon Sugg, who started all four seasons. Sugg finished second among the all-time career scorers of WHS with an accumulative of 1,307 points.

The Panthers also lost in the State opener last Thursday to Richland 78-49, finishing the season by placing in the final eight teams in the 4A division. Sugg was the high scorer against Richland with 12 points.
