Wenatchee football kicked off its season with a 21-24 loss to Southridge High School on Friday, September 2nd in the Apple Bowl.

The panthers started with an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter but were overtaken by the Suns by the end  of the first half. A fourth quarter rally set the stage for a potential comeback victory but the Panthers were unable to see it through.

“I think we were a little nervous, which is typical for a first game, but when we slowed down and played the way we know how we started coming back and almost won. I’m looking forward to league and I think we have a good chance this year,” said junior wide receiver, Darius Carlson.

The Panthers will face the Richland Bombers away next Friday, September 8th.
