The Panthers’ first two possessions resulted in turnovers, but they bounced back and jumped out to a 17-6 lead. The Pirates started to edge their way back into the game towards the end of the second quarter, and the score was close for the rest of of the game. Davis senior Nikhil Lizotte, a Humboldt State University commit, hit a circus shot to give Davis the lead with under 2 minutes left, but Murray’s shot capped the Panther win.

“All of our tough losses had set us up for this game and Grady deserves all the credit [for the final play], pushing the ball down the floor while double-teamed and then finding the open man which happened to be me. It was great to get this big win with my teammates,” Murray said.

This win goes a long way for us in proving that we can play with and beat anyone.

This win was huge for the Panthers, who previously fell to the Pirates in their last game.

“This was a great win for us, it’s nice to be on the other side of a last second shot. This win goes a long way for us in proving that we can play with and beat anyone,” WHS Coach Travis Williams said.

Girls basketball also beat Davis Friday night 48-35.
