Peers grieve over classmate’s death; funeral service open to the public
Wenatchee High School junior Palladin Wright passed away Tuesday evening. The funeral services will be held today at the Jones and Jones Funeral Home at 3 p.m. and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
“Our thoughts are with the family, and with the entire school district community during this difficult time,” Superintendent Brian Flones said in the district’s statement Wednesday.
Students and staff who seeked counseling on Wednesday were able to find it at the Career Center. The Columbia Valley Health counselors were called in to guide students through the incident.
“Whenever there is a tragedy like this one, we open a counseling safe room,” WHS Counselor Doug Taylor said. “The number of counselors we bring in depends on the impact of the event. This time around we were able to manage efficiently.”
The Wenatchee Valley Technical Center also provided counseling for its students since the junior was there half of his school day. Classes continued normally otherwise.
“Student and adults need to know that there are great people in this building willing to reach out to others,” Taylor said. “Nobody should have to suffer a personal problem on their own. There are people in this building ready to help.”
