Q & A with the new members of the WHS family

Not only are there more than 600 new students this year, with the new freshman class, foreign exchange students, and transfer students, but there are also 18 new staff members. Get a chance to meet a few of the new teachers here.
Scott Tiedman
Tiedman is a social studies teacher who likes hiking, reading, and hanging out with his family. He went to Central Washington University and lived in Doha, Qatar for five years before coming to WHS.
AL: “Would you rather go back to high school or go back to the medieval times?”
ST: “High school for sure. Sanitation and medicine is so rudimentary to me that the medieval times don’t interest me at all.”
AL: “What is something your students don’t know about you?”
ST: “My favorite food is falafel.”
AL: “What are you looking forward to this year?”
ST: “Cool weather.”
Tamara Giacomazzi
Giacomazzi is an English teacher who enjoys reading, spending time in her yard, and being with her family. Before WHS, she taught creative writing and journalism seminars in Entiat. She went to Grand Canyon University.
AL: “Weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?”
TG: “Grape leaves stuffed with octopus and rice in Greece.”
AL: “What is something your students don’t know about you?”
TG: “I once went diving with barracudas.”
AL: “What are you looking forward to this year?”
TG: “Getting to know my students and learning about literature together.”
Nick Schubert
Schubert is a math teacher who loves life and believes everyone should “do what you like and like what you do.” He went to Gonzaga University to become a teacher and moved back to Wenatchee after living in Uruguay and Latvia.
AL: “What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?”
NS: “Flying with night vision goggles. I almost flipped an aircraft over.”
AL: “What is something your students don’t know about you?”
NS: “I currently live with my mom.”
AL: “What are you looking forward to this year?”
NS: “Making connections with students and seeing the kids in my Intensified Algebra classes succeed and make good progress.”
