Five Wenatchee High School senior athletes committed to playing a sport at a specific college or university of the athletes’ choice in the Collegiate Signing Night on Tuesday.

Gavin Long will play basketball at Seattle Pacific University, Grady Miller at University of Portland playing baseball, and Cody Simmons at Whitworth University, also playing baseball. Both Brandon Graves and Dalton Harum will play baseball at Wenatchee Valley College.

The night was to celebrate this occasion, and it was sponsored by the Panther Booster Club.

“It’s a culmination of their high school career… they pursue education… and hopefully use athletics to pay for their education,” Athletic Director Jim Beeson said.

The athletes also received large posters of themselves playing their sport, which were made by the booster club.

“It was as much for the parents as it was for the kids,” Beeson said.
